Our Story

Botanical Dental is a general dentistry clinic located in the beautiful city of Saskatoon.

Dentists have been providing patients with dental care at this location for over 50 years.

Our dental practice on Louise Avenue started in 1969 as Nutana Dental Group. Since then, dentists have been caring for patients and their oral health. The name was changed to Botanical Dental in 2023.

Our practice functions on the fundamental ideologies of convenience for families, fair pricing, high-quality materials, the latest technology, and being mindful of our environmental impact.

At Botanical Dental, we follow the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan’s recommended fee guide. We believe in fair pricing and do not charge above the fee guide.

Not all dental materials are created equal. Items such as filling materials and crown cements are relied upon to ensure treatments are successful and results are long lasting. We ensure that the products we use to treat patients are thoroughly reviewed, highly rated, and have a track record of success.

Technology in the dental industry is constantly evolving to make the delivery of care more predictable and comfortable for patients. We strive to keep our clinic up to date and invest in technology that is going to provide our patients with treatment they can be confident in.

Dental care can be wasteful. We understand that some is unavoidable to ensure safe and sanitary treatment. However, we try and reduce waste where possible to lessen our impact on the environment.

Technology

  • Dental practice management software allows Botanical Dental to reduce the amount of paper used, more accurately and thoroughly maintain treatment records, and treat our patients with more confidence and accuracy.

  • Digital imaging includes the use of digital x-ray sensors and intraoral cameras. This technology allows us to more accurately diagnose dental diseases, communicate them with our patients and their insurance provider, and reduce the amount of radiation exposure.

  • Biological monitoring utilizes biological indicators and incubators to ensure the instruments we use to treat our patients meet the highest standards of sterilization.

Environment

  • Dental clinics produce a significant amount of waste. From disposable gloves to paper products, it is unavoidable when ensuring patients are receiving safe and sanitary treatment. At Botanical Dental, we make a conscious effort to remain mindful of the waste we generate and take steps to reduce.

  • Our office uses a digital workflow to reduce the amount of paper and other materials used. This includes the elimination of paper patient files and charts as well as film radiographs. We use software to maintain and update patient files as well as digital x-ray sensors and software to generate and analyze radiographic images.

  • Dental clinics have options to utilize reusable or disposable items. Examples vary from the tips used to rinse out patient’s mouths to the tools needed to polish teeth. When possible and sanitary, we choose reusable items.

Materials

  • The oral environment is harsh and diverse, and the dental materials we use in that environment must survive many challenges over years or decades. Teeth, supporting tissues, and dental materials experience changes in temperature, mechanical forces, adhesion of communities of microorganisms, and chemical attacks from foods and the body. Dental materials must be able to withstand these stresses and provide the patient with long-lasting function and good esthetics.

  • The three major classes of dental materials are alloys, ceramics, and polymers. Composite materials are the result of at least two of the three classes combing to create one material.

  • Alloy materials include amalgam (silver) fillings, orthodontic wires, and implant screws. Ceramics are most commonly used in fabricating dental crowns and bridges. Polymers play an important role in the glue (bonding agents) dentists use to bond teeth and restorative materials such as fillings, veneers, and crowns together. Composites include many products used daily in our clinic such as tooth-coloured filling material, sealants, and dentures.

  • High quality dental materials are important to provide long-lasting, pain-free results for our patients. When materials fail, so does the treatment. We want our work to be effective, resilient, and comfortable for a long time. At Botanical Dental, we choose materials that are going to give our procedures the best chance of success.
